Sturdy Little Trinket Pouch

Materials:


  • size F (3.75mm) and G (4mm) crochet hooks

  • 2 skeins sock yarn (2 full skeins are not needed, but two strands are used throughout the pattern)
  • beads (optional)


Instructions:

Round 1: Starting with a magic ring and size G hook, sc 6 sts into ring.

Round 2: 2 sc in ea st around (12 sts).

Round 3: *(Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st), repeat from * around (18 sts).

Round 4: Sc in next st, *(2 sc in next st, sc in ea of next 2 sts), repeat from * to last st, sc last st (24 sts).

Round 5: *(2 sc in next st, sc in ea of next 5 sts), repeat from * around (28 sts).

Round 6: Sc in ea st around.

Round 7: *(Sc in st beneath next st, sc in next st), repeat from * around.

Rounds 8-10: Hdc in ea st around.

Rounds 11-14: Dc in ea st around.

Round 15: *(Ch 2, skip next 2 sts, dc in ea of next 3 sts), repeat from * 4 times. (Ch 2, dc in ea of next 2 sts) twice.

Round 16: Dc in ea st around, working 3 dc in ea ch 2 space, to last 2 sts. Hdc in next st, sc in next st, sl st in beginning dc. 

Fasten off and weave in ends.



To make the cord, you can either crochet a length of chain with the size F hook, or use the twisted cord technique, if you prefer. 

Add beads to finished cord, if desired.

Square-Bellied Teddy Bear

Materials:
  • size J (6mm) crochet hook
  • 2 balls wool/acrylic mix (I used something called "Plassard: Rhapsodie," which is composed of 72% merino wool and 28% acrylic, about 50g per skein. However, an easier-to-find substitution might include "Lion Brand: Landscapes.")
  • safety eyes (or black yarn)
  • stuffing

Instructions:

BODY
Ch 16.
Round 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, working on opposite side of ch sc across (30 sts). Round 2: Place marker. Sc in beginning sc and in each sc across. Repeat round 2 until piece resembles a square shape. Stuff. Sc across the top of the piece (15 sts). Do not fasten off or cut yarn. Ch 1, turn.

HEAD
Round 1: Working through back loops only, sc in ea st across, then working through unworked front loops sc in ea st across (30 sts).
Round 2: Place marker. Sc in beginning sc and in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, *(sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat from * to last 2 sts, sc in ea of last 2 sts. (37 sts).
Round 3: Sc in each sc around.
Round 4: *(2 sc in next sc, sc in ea of next 2 sc), repeat from * to last 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc (50 sts).
Rounds 5-9: Sc in each sc around.
Round 10: *(Sc2tog through back loops, sc in ea of next 9 sc), repeat from * to last 6 sts, sc2tog through back loops, sc in ea of next 4 sts (45 sts).
Rounds 11-12: Sc in ea sc around.
Round 13: *(Sc in next 3 sts, sc2tog through back loops), repeat from * around (36 sts).
Rounds 14-15: Sc in ea st around.
Round 16: *(Sc2tog through back loops, sc in ea of next 4 sts), repeat from * around (30 sts).
Round 17: *(Sc in ea of next 3 sts, sc2tog through back loops), repeat from * around (24 sts).
Round 18: *(Sc2tog through back loops, sc in ea of next 2 sc), repeat from * around (18 sts).
Round 19: *(Sc in next sc, sc2tog through back loops), repeat from * around (12 sts). Attach safety eyes and begin stuffing. Continue stuffing as you go from this point on.
Round 20: Sc2tog through back loops only around (6 sts).
Cut yarn and thread through remaining sts.

ARMS
Round 1: Starting with a magic ring, sc 6 sts into ring.
Round 2: 2 sc in ea sc around (12 sts).
Rounds 3-7: Sc in ea sc around.
Fasten off and cut yarn, leaving a tail long enough to sew arm in place on bear's body.
Stuff arms lightly and sew to bear's body.

LEGS
Round 1: Starting with a magic ring, sc 5 sts into ring.
Round 2: 2 sc in ea sc around (10 sts).
Round 3: *(Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc), repeat from * around (15 sts). Rounds 4-9: Sc in ea sc around.
Fasten off and cut yarn, leaving a tail long enough to sew leg in place on bear's body.
Stuff legs lightly and sew to bear's body.

EARS
Ch 8.
Row 1: Hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in ea ch across (6 sts).
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Hdc in ea st across (6 sts).
Row 3: Ch 1, turn. Skip first st, hdc in ea st across (5 sts).
Row 4: Repeat row 3 (4 sts).
Row 5: Repeat row 3 (3 sts). Do not turn. Sc down the side of the ear.
Fasten off and cut yarn, leaving a tail long enough to sew the ear to the head.

MUZZLE
Round 1: Ch 2. 10 hdc in first ch.
Round 2: 2 sc in ea hdc around (20 sts). Sl st in next st.
Fasten off and cut yarn, leaving a tail long enough to sew the muzzle to the head. Sew muzzle to bear's head.

Ch 42.

Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 3, turn (counts as first dc of next row).

Row 2: Skip first st. Dc in each st across. Ch 4, turn (counts as first tr of next row).

Row 3: Skip first st. Tr in each st across. Ch 1, turn.

Row 4: Sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn.

Row 5: *(Sc in next 4 sts, sc in st beneath next st), repeat from * to last 4 sts, sc remaining sts. Ch 4, turn (counts as first tr of next row).

Row 6: Skip first st. Tr in each st across. Ch 3, turn (counts as first dc of next row).

Row 7: Skip first st. Dc in each st across. Ch 3, turn (counts as first dc of next row).


Repeat rows 2-7 until piece measures near to desired length.

Repeat rows 7 and 2 before fastening off.

Add fringe.
